English version

The Voornsehoek is situated in the part of Amstelveen that was build in 1960. The Amsterdam city border is only 10 min away (by foot). The public transport connects you directly to Amsterdam city centre and the centre of Amstelveen. The Voornsehoek is situated between two motorways, the A10 (exit S108) and A9 (exit 5). For more information about Amstelveen look at this site.

The Voornsehoek is a pleasant and quiet street and the building has 4 floors and 40 appartments. There are 20 four room appartments (aprox. 70 m2) and 20 three room appartments (aprox. 60m2). On the ground floor there are 20 garages.

The biggest neighbour of the Voornsehoek is, apart from the city of Amsterdam, Schiphol International Airport. From the Voornsehoek you can reach the airport in less than 15 minutes by car. A tram/train connection takes 45 minutes. One of the drawbacks of being Schiphols neighbour is the noise from the airplanes. However, all the apartments were made soundproof in 2003. The costs of this operation were paid by the Dutch government.

Welcome to temporay residents in the Voornsehoek

As a new (temporary) resident, it is understandable that you are very busy with moving and arranging your home, but I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some information concerning the VVE Voornsehoek (Association of Homeowners), of which the apartmet forms a part. The members of the VVE work tirelessly to ensure that the building is and remains a pleasant living environment. As the tenant of an apartment in this building, you are indirectly involved in the upkeep of the living environment. In addition to the agreements that you have made with the owner of your apartment, I would also like to draw your attention to a number of important points.

  • The following points have been derived from the VVE house rules. A copy of these rules can be obtained from your landlord/landlady.
  • Jointly with you, the landlord/landlady shall sign a declaration that you shall observe the content of these rules.
  • The nameplate on the letterbox has a standard format, variations of which are undesirable. To obtain a nameplate, please contact your landlord/landlady.
  • For urgent matters concerning your apartment, I can be contacted by telephone . Your first point of contact for most issues should be your landlord/landlady.
  • Questions may also be submitted by e-mail to voornsehoek@xs4all.nl.
  • Should you observe defective lighting or a broken lock, please do not hesitate to report it. Never assume that someone else has reported it!
  • Normal household waste can be disposed off in the containers situated in front of the building. The municipality does not permit waste to be placed next to the containers. This is punishable by law.
  • We advise against storing household waste on balconies as birds may tear open the bags.
  • The storage of possessions, whether or not on a permanent basis, and/or the storage of bicycles, mopeds and scooters is not permitted. Any such items shall be removed from communal areas at your own expense.
  • Please remember that the properties are not sound-proof. By playing loud music or watching television you may cause nuisance to the residents of neighbouring properties without noticing.
  • Noise must be kept to a minimum between the hours of 22.00 and 9.00.
  • In the event that you have reason to hold a party, keep noise to a minimum, and finish no later than 24.00. Ensure that you inform your immediate neighbours of your plans.
  • Unwanted paper must not be left on the letter boxes, a “nee – nee” sticker helps to reduce the inconvenience of unwanted mail.
  • Collection of large amounts of waste may be arranged with the municipality by telephone (020) 540 49 11.
  • The stairways are cleaned on a weekly basis. The stairs and hallway are shared by everyone, please treat them with care.  Do not leave obstacles on the stairs as they also serve as an escape route. Cleaning usually takes place on Tuesdays.
  • The windows are cleaned once every three months. Please contact your landlord/landlady for information on the costs.
  • The association has insured the building as well as the glass through which daylight enters. You are therefore responsible for insuring your own possessions.
  • Your apartment has been insulated by Schiphol. Making openings in the façade is not permitted.

Please keep your appartment  locked if you are away. Be sure that windows and outside doors are closed properly because some members of the pulic do not hesitate to climb via the balcony to your appartment and try to enter your appartment. Leaving the front door unlocked gives uninvited guests the opportunity to leave your appartment on the “normal” way.
